The hosts who remember your name
Jules and Andrew live upstairs. Bare Studio is their home, and hosting is not a business operation. It is the way they live. Guests come for the courtyard. They return for Jules and Andrew.

Meet Jules and Andrew.
Jules arrived in Australia from Germany in 2007, so she understands better than most what a genuinely warm welcome really means. The experience of landing somewhere unfamiliar and finding a host who makes you feel at home is one reason Jules loves hosting.
Jules and Andrew are a well-travelled couple who live on-site and co-host with equal warmth. They are right nearby if you need anything: directions to the best coastal walk, which café is worth the trip, or how to get into the city without a car.
Between them they know Sydney, and the Northern Beaches of Sydney well and love sharing it with guests.
Every stay begins with fresh bread, butter, and jam on the bench. The rest is yours to discover and Jules and Andrew will make sure you know exactly where to start.
“They are the most lovely couple.”
Richard, guest, February 2026
“It should evoke a sense of love of travel. A space for travellers to enjoy a local taste of the wonderful area of the Northern Beaches. A sanctuary near to the hustle and bustle of Manly. A little local for travellers to rest and feel at home, almost as if they were living there for a while.”

Three things that make a stay feel different
These are not policies. They are habits. Things Jules and Andrew do because it is the way they think hosting should work.
01
The welcome on day one
Every guest arrives to fresh bread, butter, jam, biscuits, tea and coffee on the bench. Jules will also source specific requests: a particular milk, a gluten-free option, something she knows you prefer from your message. This is not a gesture. It is the standard, every time, for every guest.
02
A personal arrival orientation
On your first day, Jules or Andrew will walk you through the studio, show you the courtyard, explain the bus routes to Manly and the city, and point you toward the coastal tracks from the door. You will leave that conversation knowing the neighbourhood, not just the address. It takes twenty minutes. Guests say it changes the whole feel of the stay.
03
Available without intruding
Jules and Andrew are upstairs if you need anything, but they will not hover. The studio has its own private entrance and its own private courtyard. Guests come and go as they please. The hospitality is there when it is wanted and absent when it is not. Guests notice that balance and mention it often.
the welcome
Fresh bread on the bench. Every first morning. Every guest.
The welcome provisions at Bare Studio are mentioned in almost every detailed guest review. Not because they are unusual, though they are, but because they signal something. They tell you that a real person thought about your arrival before you got there.
Jules leaves provisions on your first morning: fresh bread, butter and jam, biscuits, tea, coffee and milk. She is also happy to source specific requests, and has. Guests have asked for particular milks, dietary alternatives and specific teas. Jules has simply made it happen.
It is a small thing. It is also the thing guests mention most.
- Fresh bread, every first morning
- Butter and jam
- Biscuits
- Tea selection
- Ground coffee
- Milk, including special requests
